Getting closer to the edge of the woods.

Leaving the hospital was hard yesterday afternoon. I did go back in the evening to meet his night time nurse and kiss our baby goodnight. He was wide awake and just glaring at momma. It was special. I took my friend Anne up to see him. She has been a great support. Her son Evan is Andrew's best friend and was in the NICU for sometime when he was born. She knows the feelings and it is good to talk.
The picture below is right before we left the hospital.

Last night was the turn around night for Elliott. He was removed from the ventilator this afternoon due to a great blood gas report. He is off the morphine, and is on a c-pap (a little teeny mask type thingy). He had is first meal at 5:30 this evening via tube to his stomach. God is good and we know he has been with Elliott through this entire ordeal. The plan of action tomorrow is to remove the c-pap and have him breathe without any oxygen. This will be big.

We went to see Elliott before church today and he was resting very peacefully. It was good to see him rest without the help of morphine in his system.

Today right before church...

The nurse that took care of him today told us that during the transition of getting the ventilator off and putting the prongs in his nose (they tried the prongs first, then went to the mask), he had pulled the prongs out of his nose and put them in his mouth to suck on them. She couldn't help but call the nurse practicioner over to see what he had done. He did not like the prong the first day...and he didnt like the prongs today. She also said that he got so mad that she tried to put the prongs in the second time, he pushed himself up with his feet, booty in the air and grunted. My first response when she told me this was "poor little guy", then it became a humorous kind of response of "that stinker, we are in for a wild ride with this little boy"

Just wanted you to know that all of you have been in our prayers out here in London. Annie has been keeping us updated on Elliott's progress - today is a good day!
Take care,
